'Arts Reproducing Art, with an Aura of Tradition': Collage & Riso Printing with Rosie Tacon Glass and Charlotte Done
Sat 19 Sept, 10am – 4pm
Good Things Collective, Morecambe
Spend the day creating Collage and Riso prints, using archive materials, photographs and prints from the 1890-mid 1920s.
We’ll be exploring the life and work of Karel Klíč, a pioneer in photogravure, who developed a method of reproducing high quality images, which brought art to the masses after joining forces with the Storey Brothers.
Collage artist Rosie Tacon-Glass and Riso printer Charlotte Done will lead you through the creative processes and printing with the Risograph, recreating local stories visually and with a modern twist. While Photogravure is a photo-mechanical process, used to reproduce detailed continuous tones of a photograph, Riso printing uses a risograph duplicating machine.
The Riso printer works in a similar way to screen printing. It’s a fun and quick way to scan & print, using non-toxic vibrant inks.
- Age: 18+ (Under-18s will need an adult to attend)
- No experience necessary.
- All materials are provided – wear suitable clothing for gluing and printing.
- Bring a packed lunch for a 45 minute break

Karel Klíč - Copy That! at Accrington Library
Sat 1 August, 10am – 2pm
Accrington Library
Visitors to the library will be offered the opportunity to produce engravings based on buildings around the Accrington area. Drawings from photographs will be used to engrave into metal card.
Upon completion of engraving, artist, Alan Birch will assist in inking a plate and demonstrate printing with a portable press.
Inks are water based but all printers will have gloves on whilst printing.
All prints can be taken home once photographed and “copied”!

Archive Workshop with Lela Harris, Lancaster Black History Group and Lancashire Archives
Explore, research and get creative investigating the life of artist & inventor Karel Klíč at Lancashire Archives, Preston.
Join Mirador Arts and Lancaster Black History Group to explore the life of Czech artist and inventor Karel Klíč and Lancaster’s diverse 19th-century communities.
Together, we’ll look through archive materials to uncover more about Klíč’s time in Lancaster and the innovative printing process he developed with The Storey Brothers; an invention that helped share the technology behind the photocopier.
The Lancashire Archives team will be on hand to introduce the collections, share research tips, showcase fascinating archive materials, and help you discover ways to work with the archives yourself.
During the session, artist Lela Harris will also lead a hands-on workshop, showing how you can turn your research and discoveries into a unique collage postcard.
Booking is free but essential.
Cyanotype Workshop with Marge Bradshaw * SOLD OUT *
Participants will learn how to take photographs without a camera.
Cyanotype prints will be created during the day and a guide to continue producing prints at home will be provided.

Take a break in your day and drop in to our friendly sketching-and-chatting coffee break sessions in May. If you like drawing and doodling, this is for you!
Get arty for some enjoyment, relaxation and connection, online from your favourite chair. Half an hour of your day, mid-morning and mid-afternoon in May via Zoom.
All abilities welcome for these simple still life sessions. All that’s needed is paper, pencil/pen and enthusiasm.
